Gitoki is a hill in rwanda’s eastern province, where the coffee washing station is located. It is currently the newest station in the baho family. It collects harvests from 1,120 farmers, produces 10 containers of green coffee per year, and employs up to 130 people at the peak of the harvest season. According to rwanda’s 2019 national coffee export report, the gatsibo district produces a significant amount of coffee cherries. There were no coffee processing stations in the gitoki sector. The owners decided that it would be practical to build a coffee washing station in 2020 to make it easier for farmers to deliver their product over short distances and to preserve the quality of the processed coffee. Although corn and bananas currently dominate the region, baho has created an impressive seedling distribution program that encourages farmers to start planting more coffee.
