This decaffeinated coffee comes from colombia and is produced by hulcafe. The decaffeination process uses ethyl acetate (ea), a compound typically derived from sugarcane. As this organic compound naturally occurs in fruits, the method is often referred to as the “sugar cane decaf” process. Here’s how it works: green coffee beans are first soaked in water to expand their cellular structure. Then, ethyl acetate is applied – it selectively binds with caffeine molecules and removes them from the bean. Afterward, the beans are thoroughly washed with water and carefully dried. This gentle, natural process preserves the coffee’s original flavor characteristics, resulting in a clean, sweet cup without the off-notes that can sometimes appear in other decaffeination methods.
